neobook on CrossOver Mac 6.0 ?

General questions about NeoBook

Thanks, good explanation! :-)

Some crazy thoughts on running EXE's on Macs follow. . .

CrossOver (or anyone else for that matter) could build a Mac compiler/packager that packages a windows program, such as a NeoBook-made EXE, AND the WINE libraries (windows, without windows, that is) and that would be a distributable .EXE embedded and repackaged as a Mac .APP that would essentially allow a Mac end-user to run a Windows Exe without having Windows or Crossover installed, or even knowing that he/she is running a Windows EXE.

I'm just happy as all get-out that NeoBook runs with CrossOver! :-)

John,

Thanks also for the good news!
When you have more info about running neobook with plugins (and specially with my plugins ;-) ), it would be nice to let us know here.
So when a MAC user asked about a MAC-version of our neo-apps, we could offer the second best solution to run it with CrossOver.
So keep on.

John,

any news with your tests of the crossover trial?

Are plugins supported?

Hi, I did some more testing. I'd say that overall, Crossover has a lot of promise, but it is still essentially a beta (some might say Alpha) product. There graphical anomolies, unexpected results, etc.

I wouldn't recommend it to a paying customer to use with your applications, but I would certainly keep a close eye on its development.

I took screenshots while I was playing around with installing NeoBook and running a couple sample pubs in Crossover. It's 15MB PDF file.

Hope that's helpful!

Both products miss the point!
You will need a windows license.

But as long crossover is kind of alpha, it is the only option.

So we keep playing windows-only.

Hi All,

The last post in this thread was in 2007; it is now 2010. I wonder if anyone has tried the latest release of Crossover Mac to see if Neobook applications will run seamlessly?

See: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/

It would be great if someone could do some testing for us! ;-)

Cheers!

I have a Mac so if someone has any particular apps they would like me to try, just let me know.

I will give a try on a couple simple ones over the weekend. I don't own Crossover yet, but I can install the trial.

It would be very interesting to see what database access I could use, mdb, etc..

Ideal soultion for me - power of Linux and best RAD ever :-)
