Database of PDF files

Postby DELCO » Sun Nov 23, 2014 3:34 am

Hello,
I would like to store pdf files in a database. I can't use "picture field". I try to use NeobookPDF, I try to use web browser, but it doesn't work...

Any idea or experience about that ?

Best regards,

You're probably better off saving paths to the files and store the PDFs in a file system.
If the files are small you could store them as BLOB, do take notice that the will be resource consuming and its probably not the best approach.

DBPro's picture field is actually a binary blob-type field, so in theory it should work with PDF or any type of file. The picture field in NeoBook will always contain a path and file name not the actual PDF content. As you navigate the table, the contents of the picture field will be extracted to a temporary file. The name of this temporary file will be placed in the picture field variable [MyDB.Table.Picture]. If you use this field as a file name then it should work, but you will need to use DBPro's on change subroutine to manually load the PDF in either NeoBookPDF or the webbrowser object.
