starting an mp4 external

Postby frednet » Sat Jun 07, 2014 4:29 am

good day!
Can I start an mp4 video file in the computers default media player from within neobook?
The situation is this; A HD mp4 file contains a movie I want to burn to a DVD and I want to use a small neobook ap to start the movie on the dvd.
I tried neobook dx but it won't play mp4 so tarting an external aplication couild be the solution.
I also tried autorun but it won't let me start an mp4 movie directly
Thanks Fred.

Hi Fred,

I don't have any problem running mp4 with DX plugin in a media manager I coded. You probably don't have the codec installed on your machine. Search the web for a free codec pack, like klite codec pack. There are also others. Doing this should solve your problem.

hi Wrangler,

The mp4 plays fine in windows media player, quicktime and vlc.
Wmv is the only file type I can play.
I'm not sure why. ill try running it from another machine and see.

Fred:

Double Click on the directory entry (in Windows Explorer) of the mp4 file ...

- if it plays in "Windows Media Player" (or another assigned exe), you can get it to do the same from your NeoBook Application using ...
Code: Select all
Run "{yourFileNameHere}.mp4" "" "Normal+RunOnce" "" "[AppId]"

- if it does not play, then your computer is not setup to have mp4 files run by a designated program

Hello Gaev,
Thanks I will try that. , Found a similar solution by using the run command on a shortcut link to the mp4 file.
This also works well.
My ability to think clear is somewhat clouded by the pressure of the upcoming deadline :)
Thanks Fred.

DESDE COSTA RICA

Desde hace mucho, mi "mp4-player" es un objeto de NeoBook,
de tipo MediaPlayer, lo que hago es:
cambiarle la extension al video de 'mp4' a 'mp3' y listo.
