Well said Bob (and everyone else)! Personally, I have utilized various software packages over the years and have yet to see as awesome a product as Neobook. In fact, we should thank our lucky stars that the developers continue to improve upon this superb product. (Heck, I was impressed with Neobook over 10 years ago and am quite impressed with the added features over the years.) Neobook is a true 5-star package (including the product support). Never, ever take it for granted. Ever.

FYI: It would be cool having the ability to read and write binary--and not for malicious reasons. I have utilized other development packages to create my own self-extracting files, for instance, and having the ability to read/write binary opens a lot of doors for myriad program ideas. However, I would not stop using Neobook if such features were never implemented. (There are always creative "workarounds.")

Finally, regarding rimmer66's posts...enough already, eh? I have heard of beating a dead horse, but geez! Give it a rest. Personally, I would pay MUCH MORE than $30 for a good plug-in and would pay whatever the cost for the opportunity to use Neobook. (I am so looking forward to the next major update!) 8-)

hi Boo,

I guess understand rimmers'66. Obviously, i can be wrong....
I guess Rimmers think $30.- is expensive for two functions.

I guess... If I compile together all my freeware plugins and include this two functions into this new plugin, he would pay for it with some kind of satisfaction...

Quantity... not quality...

Each one with your own way to understand the life...

Plugin Updated. Version 1.03

* Plugin totally rewritten following the new PowerBasic Skeleton SDK.
Now, you get all Assistant Dialogs on Design Time. Check your previous syntax, because new plugin has new syntax.

* Added a new function: ae_binary_Bin2File

Purpose: return a binary file as the original file (with a new target filename)

Usage:

ae_binary_Bin2File "Register_Key" "BIN File" "Target File"

Where:

Register_key: is the Key I provide you when register
BIN File: is the (fullpath) FileName BIN File to return as original
Target File: is the (fullpath) FileName to be created as the original

Returns: [ae_Binary_Bin2File_Status] (Ok)

New Plugin could be donwloaded at:

http://specialapps.software-zone.com/fi ... Binary.zip

Of course, upgrade is free to Registered Users.

Have Fun !

Could you use this to secure a program (.exe) file? Is there any limit to the file size it can work on?

Hi Andy,

You could use NeoBinary with any kind of files (includes .EXE ones)

I don't test what happens with a very very large substitution. If you change 30 or 50 (or 100) bytes of a file (like an EXE) it will be inoperable.

On the other hand, you could use the new functions ae_binary_Bin2File and ae_binary_File2Bin in order to resample the whole file. There are not limit using this functions.

Just had a little project pop up that can make use of this speedy encryption method. So I'd like to register the NeoBinary plugin but I can't see it listed on your web site, if you let me know where to paypal the funds to I'll buy today.
