Replace Text in variable s with selected objects

Postby datadon » Mon Jan 02, 2012 8:33 am

When selecting a group of objects all at once that you want to duplicate, and then modify, it would be nice to be able to do a replace within the code of those objects, specifically the variable name.

Lets say I have a bunch of inputs that have a variable name of [firstgroupx) with the x being a different number for each variable in the set. The next group I would like to call them [secondgroupx].

Is the possible to create a tool that would allow a replace of text with selected objects? Maybe as right click option?

I'm not sure exactly how to handle that from a programming standpoint, but it's an interesting idea. We can certainly look into it.

I guess my preference if it can be done would be to create a right click once the set is selected that would open a dialog with two boxes, replace this with this etc. but how you would do that is beyond my scope. Maybe a plugin action could do that as well.
