Run excel document

Postby AMD Online » Mon Oct 10, 2011 1:20 pm

Hi, I am having difficulty trying to use an action to run an xls document. I have read other forum threads and the user guide but still cannot do what I want to do.

Basically I would like to open an xls file on the click of a button or more ideally within a page itself. NB The file contains information and is not a blank template I want to open.

The file is also in the embedded list but I am not sure what to do from there.

It is probably a simple action script to run but to newbie like me I cannot work this out.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance
Thank You

Andy

If you have Excel or Microsoft's free Excel viewer installed, you can open an xls file using NeoBook's Run action. For example:

Run "[PubDir]Test.xls" "" "Normal" "" ""

If you need to view the spreadsheet inside your publication, then you could open it with the following plug-ins:

NeoBookDBPro (as a database):

tmSpreadsheet:

Albertos tmspreadsheet is a great plugin, I've used it in a few publications. Its not fully Excel compatible, in as much as it doesn't do advanced excel things but its handled the things I've thrown at it.

If you want to go that way I'd consider checking it today as Alberto is doing an any plugin for a bargain price deal: http://www.techmedia-plugins.com.br/
