Neopaint 3.2b is running very slow on a fast a machine HELP!

Postby bisa44 » Mon Feb 05, 2007 3:49 pm

I have to use for some cases the old version of Neopaint. This is the 3.2b. I am using it on a pentium II (333mHz) under win98.

I have a newer machine a pentium IV 1.7 gHz and I would like to use the software under WinXP. It is running very slow especially the zooming. What can I do ???

I tried to use dosbox and other dos emulators unsuccessfully.

Please help!

Thanks!

Your best bet is to upgrade to the Windows version of NeoPaint which was designed to run under Windows. However, you should be able to get the old DOS version to run acceptably under most Windows XP configurations. Probably what you need to do is tweak the properties for NeoPaint.exe. To do this navigate to the NeoPaint folder using Windows Explorer. Locate the NeoPaint.exe file, right click it and select "Properties" from the popup menu. You'll have to experiment with the settings here to figure out what works best on your PC. Memory is probably the key. Make sure that you allocate at least 4096KB Expanded (EMS) memory to NeoPaint.
