Error with SendMail using DynDNS outbound account

Did you try using this:

[MailUserID]

[MailUserPassword]

Use these two variables to specify the user ID and password when using the SendMail Action with servers that require authentication.

In an earlier email exchange I suggested that Mike try specifying the port used by the mail server in addition to the user name and password. For example:

SetVar "[MailServer]" "outbound.mailhop.org"
SetVar "[MailPort]" "2525"
SetVar "[MailUserID]" "DynDNS username"
SetVar "[MailUserPassword]" "DynDNS password"
SendMail...

According to the DynDNS web site, the following ports may be used: 25
(default), 2525, 10025, 465 or 10465.

Apparently changing ports did not solve the problem. Other mail servers work, so it's a mystery why DynDNS does not.

Do any of the email gurus here have any experience with DynDNS or similar services?

A search on the web reveals there are other email programs that have a problem as well, Eudora one of them. I think neobook isn't giving mailhop.org server the authentication it needs. Possibly you must set up the port number used in mailhop config? Could also be something with the connection type. Could be you have to check mail before you can send.

I don't think it's neobook's fault. I use the sendmail action every day, on different servers, with no problem. Best thing would probably be to contact mailhop.org tech support.

An alternative would be to use al's smtprelay plugin. Don't need an outside mail server then.
