Importing Stock Market data (prices)

Postby Guest » Mon Jan 31, 2005 6:34 pm

Some sites track the stock market, giving stock prices either in real time or after a delay. Is there a way to import updating stock prices from such sites into NB in order to use them in some type of program?

There's no automatic stock quote feature built into NeoBook, but you could use the Web Browser object to display the web site conatining the quotes. Then use the BrowserExport action to access the site's HTML code. From there you might be able to parse the code and separate out the stock data.

I visit a couple places for stocks/futures and they often dispaly things as a graph with mouseover information.

You can get the page using Neobook and then save it. There are identifiers in the html about the data you want. Use the text features of Neobook to search the (huge) string that constitutes the html file. Strip out what you don't want and save the rest.

You can then import or manipulate that data as you please.
