TextEntry Object's Text Change Action

Postby Guest » Sun Nov 07, 2004 3:44 pm

Create object TextEntry1 with this "Text Changed" action code.

Code: Select all
AlertBox "debug" "[TextEntry1]"

Before running the program, copy "123" (no quotes) to the clipboard.

Run the program. Make sure that TextEntry1 has the focus and then press Ctrl+V to paste the clipboard contents into the object.

I was surprised when the "Text Changed" code was executed only one time. The AlertBox appeared just once and displayed "123" as if the three clipboard characters were entered in a single, unbreakable operation rather than as three individual keystrokes.

There is nothing wrong with this behaviour, but it is useful to know when you need to inspect each character in a TextEntry object at the moment the character arrives. In my program, I worked around the problem by disabling Ctrl+V with an off-stage short cut button.
