mcGawk: Awk functionality in Neobook

Postby reinier maliepaard » Fri Jul 18, 2014 11:14 pm

Hello,

A few weeks ago, I found an antiquarian book on Awk. In the late 1970s and 1980s, Awk was a popular language on text processing (especially CSV files).
However, I found that Awk is anno 2014 alive: tutorials on Awk are still published.

Learning Awk appeared to be quite easy. And I can tell you that the power of Awk is very impressive. Example: all your Excel and Calc spreadsheet operations can be done with Awk!

For you, I made a small Neobook application mcGawk (GPL2 or above) with 20 basic Gawk operations (Gawk is the GNU variant of Awk).

I hope that mcGawk will be useful for you. Any comment is welcome.

Dave, thanks for your Neobook!

I agree! Very interesting. Thanks for finding this. Now I need to look into AWK.
