Create own skins for standard window

For my applications I like to use the standard window with title bar, resizing functions and more.

What I've seen in other Rapid Application Builders and Multimedia Authoring Systems is the possibility to skin the standard window and pop-up windows.

I think it's important for the look and feel of multimedia applications to change the color of the window border, title bar and more.

I can also imagine this feature as a commercial plugin.

I would welcome this possibility very much.

Best regards from Germany.

It is possible to create movable skinned custom windows using images and the "no border" option. For example:

Perhaps we can expand on this in the future.

Is this still a possibility?
Is there not some DLL library like DevExpress.BonusSkins.v12.1.dll or something we can use?
Im more interested in changing the components as well as window.
Ie adding a drop down/text area will take on this new skin/theme.
This would be a paid addon, no problems.
Powergui doesnt seem to do what i want and thought it would be a great addition.
Thanks,
robbie

Hi Schmutly,

I asked for some similar at:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19532

and,

if you read:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19795

you can see this point:

 Added the following page related actions: SetPageBackground, SetPageEffect, ShowMasterPage and HideMasterPage. These actions can be used to modify a page’s appearance programmatically.

I think we have all we need to create skinned programs

Mi devaluated cent,
David de Argentina

Hi David,
yes...that changes the "page" related items.
I'm talking about every aspect of a Gui...like the drop down boxes,
text boxes,things like that.
You can change buttons and volume sliders as you can load your own images
but not with drop boxes etc...and not easily.
Once you have a 'set' of modified components like above to be able to SAVE that
as a theme to use with another project. That way could have many 'themes' instead
of having the standard windows 'forms'
At the moment im spending just as long in photoshop getting a skin ready
Just so it can look more professional & less like it was made with VB

Image

Anyway, thanks but looks like i'm stuck with changing the 'page'
only and using hotspots and images..just takes a lot longer to
'skin' a themed software...no matter...ciao
Rob

PS: if a "theme" module was added (and was even possible) how many of us
would pay for that extra feature, i know i would :)

This is something we're seriously considering for a future update.

Hi David,
i mean something like this Delphi skinner
http://www.alphaskins.com/index.php
How's this side of things going and is there anyway we could use the 'output' from
this skinner to skin our apps? Just thinking out loud (or is it dreaming  )
Thx,
Robbie

Hi schmutly,

The matter is that the component alphaskins works with windows of class TForm and with system standard dialogues (windows)
And NB the window has class TWorkForm and there are many difficulties to apply skin to nb to a window.

Yes Garic, thanks mate..i understand that.
I mean "like that" inferring to skin the winforms in
some way...besides, support answered above with "This is something we're seriously considering for a future update."
So im just, for example..meaning that's what I'd like to have as a feature.
Any other way to do this is just TOO hard and long winded and if its at least 'feasible'
then i think many would "pay" for that feature esp if a plugin.
The standard windows esthetics is a bit dated now, but it does delivery where it
needs, thanks anyway for your comment.Cheers.Love the bike :-P

I know it's an old post but these skins someone cant develop a
plugin to use these:
http://skincrafter.com/samples/delphi-skins
I realize its probably not that easy and if the new html5 project
is moving forward there may be something already sorted for that
but i'm just asking ;)
