Nested varnames in text objects

Postby HPW » Fri Oct 05, 2007 2:13 am

This works:
Code: Select all
SetVar "[Test1]" "[MyOracle.[MyOracleTable].FieldName]"

Both varnames are resolved.

But this:
[MyOracle.[MyOracleTable].FieldName]
in a text-object does not show up.

I think it is to do with the fact that (guessing) ... [MyOracleTable] is a Table in the database with an ID of "MyOracle" ... and FieldName is the name of an actual field/column in the referenced Table of the database ... perhaps the main NeoBook platform does not recognize (trap) the change in this pseudo-variable's content within the NeoBookDBPro sub-platform.

I tried this in a test pub ...
Code: Select all
SetVar "[Outer.XXX.Finish]" "HPW"
SetVar "[Inner]" "XXX"
AlertBox "1" "[Outer.[Inner].Finish]"

... and had a Text object with content set to [Outer.[Inner].Finish] ... and it worked as expected ... even when I remvoed the AlertBox command.

You might try doing a RefreshObject on the Text object after you Open the Table ... and upon change of "current record" within the Table.

Thanks Gaev,

That does work. The OnChange-action refreshes the text correctly.
