Hi Dave,

I just found this:

https://bitbucket.org/mrchay/html5apkbuilder/overview

This app seems to be a replacement for phonegap.

With a couple of adventages:
* No web dependencies.
* generates a signed and aligned apk file.

I don't understand all features, my english is as Tarzan...

Perhaps it could be a good develop alternative...

Seems like it probably could be made to work with NeoAppBuilder's compiler's Web App option. It sounds like you just have to copy the files into the right folders. The instructions aren't very clear, so I would be interested to hear if anyone can get this to work.

Hi Dave,

I had tested this APK builder with a pretty complex app.
The way to build the APK is very easy: put all files and folders into the html5 folder and run the go.bat

Pros:
The APK runs fine under Froyo (2.2.1) and ICS (4.0.4).

Problems:
a) The APK is near 18 MB height. (the buid done with phonegap is near 400 kb)
b) The APK uses near 50 MB ram (the build done with phonegap uses 2/3 MB ram )

I have also found this one, but I have not tested it yet:

I would think those problems would pretty much eliminate that one for me.

Is that an open source project?

Is that an open source project?

Not sure but SourceForge is supposed to be an open source software repository.
To use this software it is necessary Java installed.

It costs $25.

Apparently it turns everything into a Java application.

It has very good ratings so I guess it is worth the price.

Having to download a full copy of the Chromium browser to embed in the app is certainly a problem, and there are other program builders that do the same. I am surprised Google doesn't have a Chromium run-time that you can download once, and then all Chrome-based apps will use it instead of downloading the entire monster over and over again...

Yes, the massive size of Chromium makes it almost unusable. Maybe that's intentional? I can't imagine what makes it so big.
