neobook for Google Sketchup

Postby HPW » Tue Jan 24, 2012 2:05 pm

Just released neobook for Google Sketchup 1.01

http://www.hpwsoft.de/anmeldung/html1/s ... chup4.html

This time it is not a plugin for neobook.

This is neobook as a plugin for Google Sketchup V7/8.

The plugin uses the OCX of neobook and load a PKG neobook project as a dialog into the Sketchup software.

There it can use the whole range of available plugins for neobook.
Demos provide example how to interface between neobook and Sketchup's ruby enviroment.
You can also use newLISP in this context from both sides.

What types of interface does it offer?
Extract info from Sketchup. Dimensions?

In general, how would it be used?

Thanks
Don

Hello,

>What types of interface does it offer?
>Extract info from Sketchup. Dimensions?

It does not have direct access to the SU core via SDK.
(This would need a C++ app)
It does support a ruby interface.
You can also pass a parameter to neobook and set a return value.

So at least you can do everything you can do with ruby.
To do this you should know ruby and the Sketchup rubi-API.
So the plugin is targetted to SU plugin developer (Win only)
It is a alternativ to SU web dialogs, which can get difficult to create.

Ok, if anybody comes up with something that will do extract information from the files that would be great.

I would love to have a plugin that can grab element info from some of the CAD formats like Microstation, Autocad, Sketchup etc.

Then modify that info and put it back into the cad file.

Things like dimensions, colors, levels any attribute.

No small order for sure. Dwgs are basically databases.

Thanks
Don

It will rarly a one for all Solution.
Very different plattforms with different file formats.
So every platform has to be adressed in its special way.
Autocad/Dwg has his own API's.
In my day job I am working as a full-time autolisp-programmer,
so I do accessing the DWG-DB quit often.
Autolisp and Dcl are a open API to the enviroment.

Google Sketcup and ruby is also a open system.
Very different from autocad in terms of programming.
But cheaper and a big and activ community with great plugins.
