Postby dec » Tue Aug 16, 2011 9:11 am

Hi to all!

This plugin allow you to open, write and perform other operations on PKZIP-compatible files. You can add files, extract files, and make other operations on one or more zip files at a time. And with all the control with the plugin provided events.

The plugin is intended to allow you to compress and decompress zip files from your publication in an easy way, offer actions to open, save, close, add, extract, abort operations, and more. And also provide a lot of subroutine events for every zip operations needs.

You can download the npZips from here.

Thank you!

Hi Luiz,

I dont read anything about some Zip limitations (I remember however some zip standard limitations) on the documentation of the component that I use: TurboPower Abbrevia. However, after read your question, I find on Internet and read some possible limitation in Zip format that you can read on this Wikipedia article.

P.S. You found any problem?

Hi,

I make some requests over this question. First of all the component I use (excellent component in any case) dont support yet Zip64, so "[...] is limited to 64k files, no file more than 4 gigabytes in size, and the zip file itself is also limited to 4 gigabytes in size."

For the other hand I just now test compressing a directory with 54.930 files and 2.724 folders, with a total of 2,50 GB (2.693.591.040 bytes) using deflated "super fast" option and finally I get a zip archive with 1,42 GB (1.532.465.152 bytes) without problems.

Maybe the current limitation is a problem for you. I sorry for that and hope that the component that I use finally support the Zip64 in a near future. Note that Zip64 have limitations too, for example can compress zip files up to 16 GB if I am not wrong.

Dec,

4 GB is good. Asked because we find many zip utils that do not support more than 500 MB.

Soon I will be using the bundle facility.

Keep the good work.

Thanks.
