Hello,

I talked about the original demo of the used component itself from delphiarea.
So when this demo shows the same stutter, it comes from there.

Hello,

With the PUB there come the NBP/NBR plugin files.
You have to istall the plugin in neobook. (Options/Install plugins)
When you then run the demo-pub you can press the 'Creat Marquee' buttons.
The you should see the marquee in the upper rectangle.

Hello,

Here is difficult to see any appreciable stutter. Maybe a verty little, little stutter but not very important in my honest opinion. At the very least using the plugin publication demo I found they work like I can expected. On the other hand I try this plugin some time ago and I cannot remember a different behaviour now. I use the plugin publication demo on Windows 8 Pro and my video card is nothing special... just an integrated video card.

Here is the original component application demo compiled with Delphi. I cannot found differences between this application and the plugin demo. Take a look if you like in order to view if your case is different:

NBP file shows up in Install Plug-in but not NBR files.
How do I install this file?

The "NBR" file is included but you no need to worry about. When NeoBook compile your publication, if a "NBR" file exists, then automatically include this file instead the "NBP". The "NBR" file is intended to reduce the plugin size, since only contain runtime code, not designtime code. But I repeat you no need to worry about this file or install it. Use the "NBP" file to install the plugin and forget the "NBR" file.

Test Ran the pub but eSet Nod32 Antivirus quarantined the ..text.exe file and prevents it from running.

Also, I am using Windows XP, should the Plug-In be placed in the Programs/Neobook/plug-in/(directory)?

Try with Virustotal.com. At the very least you can see how many antivirus differ from their "predictions". I do not use an antivirus, just a Firewall and the Windows Defender, and do not get any notice about this.

Not necessarily. You can place the plugin file (NBP and NBR) in any other place without problems.

Hi Hans-Peter,

Unfortunately the original Delphi program at http://www.delphiarea.com/ does not have a binary executable, So I do not have what is needed to compile the source code.
Are you able to confirm if this stutter is on the original code?
This issue may not look very much when viewing a full screen but I wanted to try and use this plugin to provide a marquee on LED video walls and these often have quite a low resolution. This low res will emphasize any stutter.
I was hoping that someone may know how to fix the problem as I had looked into the MS multimedia timer and adjusting its resolution and turning off Aero desktop etc.

Thanks for you help.

Just upload a new hpwRealTimeMarquee 2.06:

Now based on release 3.2 of TRealTimeMarquee.

I updated to the last release of the component to make sure not to miss any Performance related fix.
I also test a the standalone Exe of the component on my old XP pc and win7 tablet.
I noticed the little stutter on both. So I can not do much on this.
Maybe keeping the marquee small may help.

Thank you so much for looking into this Hans-Peter.
The font size doesn't seem to affect the smoothness.
I guess I should ask the original author of the component as nothing I do affects the stutter.

Thanks again

Just upload a new hpwRealTimeMarquee 2.07:

http://www.hpwsoft.de/anmeldung/html1/n ... ook20.html

Fixes for the cosmetic bugs in hpwRealTimeMarqueeSetVar-dialog and the about-dialog.

DaveJ: I posted a report on the delphiarea forum:

http://forum.delphiarea.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2111

Maybe Kambiz can tell us whats happen.

By the way: I do not see a stutter when using interval > 13ms. What did you use?

Hi Hans-Peter,
I tried changing the interval and it didn't change the stutter, it just made it less obvious.

However I have been trying everything to get this stutter free and found if I change my graphics card to use 16bit colour instead of 32bit it seems stutter free!
I just set your example with its default settings and the 16bit setting and the stutter is gone!

It would be interesting if this also fixes it for other users.

Maybe it would be worthwhile letting Kambiz know that the colour depth seems to have an effect.

Thanks

Dave J
