I agree

Hi I agree with a 3 letter prefix "dbp". A good mnemonic.

It is a good rule to name variables, functions, routines.

Personally, I feel that "dbp" is the way to go...

Thank you for your input.

My only concern about using DBPro is the following mentioned by Gaev:

NeoBookDBPro might confuse some future new visitors into thinking there was a "seamless upgrade" from current NeoBookDB ... and I don't think/know that current pubs developed with NeoBookDB can deploy new plugin without making command changes.

Moving from NeoBookDB to NeoBookDBPro will not be a seamless upgrade. Many of the commands are similar, but differences in how databases are accessed by the new plug-in will require existing pubs to be rewritten. Also DBPro is directed toward newer database formats like MS Access, SQL, etc. It is possible to view dBase files, but the format's limitations mean that not all of DBPro's features are supported.

You're right Horst

It was my idea too: Simply NeoBASE (or maybe Or NeoBasePro).
It's just souds little more fashionable-...

The shortened form could be.... "nbs"

I like Horst's suggestion ... "NeoBase" ... with command prefixes of "nb" or "ndb"

Other possibilities could be ...

NeoBookData ("nbd")
NeoData ("nd")
NeoBookDataConnect or NeoBookDataConnector or NeoBookDataConnection ("nbd")
NeoDataConnect or NeoDataConnector or NeoDataConnection ("ndc")

And if all else fails, go to something completely non-descriptive ... "Jupiter" ... or "Silo" ... or "Magnesium".

If NeoBookDBPro isn't available, I would pick NeoBase or NeoBasePro with nb or nbp as the prefixes.

I agree with Horst. NeoBase, with nb prefix. Easy to type. Shouldn't be confusing.

I agree with Gaev

It's mainly a data connector and not a database.

So ... why not neodataconnector: ndc
