tmFTP

Postby beno » Wed May 25, 2005 4:35 pm

Hi,

I did a very simple FTP application using Al's tmFTP.

The idea is to help a client upload some .html files to his webpage. So at startup it starts the plugin, assigns the client ftp info in the appropiate vars, and logs in:

tmFTPCreate "MyRectangle"

SetVar "[varHost]" "ftp.myclienthost.com"
SetVar "[varUser]" "myclient@ftp.myclienthost.com"
SetVar "[varPassword]" "myclientpassword"
SetVar "[varPassive]" ""
SetVar "[varAccount]" ""

tmFTPLogOn "[VarHost]" "[VarUser]" "[VarPassword]" "[VarPassive]" "[VarAccount]"

And in the ShutDown Actions:

tmFTPLogOff

My publication works as expected and nice... but when I end the program it remains as a process in the TaskManager.

I have compiled it with NB4.1.3a and NB5.1.0.2 and in both cases happens.

So it seems the problem is in tmFTP.

Anyone else using this?

Alberto, what can you tell me? (I know you are busy, but sooner or later you will see this).

Any help will be appreciated.

Use tmFTPclose when shutting down.

Hi Wrangler,

Oops! I was not using this action, but there is no difference...

You are right about closing the session, I was not using this.

Mmmhh, there is a phantom in my system.

I'm compiling the app with NB4.1.3a, the PC where I'm testing is running XP Pro (plain) english, PIII @ 1Ghz, is the one connected to the Internet at my place and serves as a proxy, and uses ZoneAlarm Firewall.

Thanks for your help.

Did you try closing the process in Task Manager first? Or maybe do a reboot so you can start fresh.

Also, I have noticed that Al's ftp plug requires while statements or delays to work properly. Make sure the program has enough time to shut down the process before exiting.

Hi Wrangler,

Now I tested it after reboot, a fresh enviroment...

And yes, I have a delay action between LogOff (300ms) and Close (900ms) Exit

But the process is there in the TaskManager...

If I run again the program, then another process appears in the TM.

Thanks for your ideas.

You might also want to try Chris's ftp plug. I use it, and don't need delays, etc. and it's free. If you want it, and don't have it, let me know and I'll email it to you.

The plugin is destroyed when Neobook exit. I will chek what could cause this. The tmFTP is very stable here on my site. I really did not have problems with it, but I will, certainly, make a debug on it to check for any leeks.

This reply to the original support request is 1 year and 2 months later... I accept patience is not one of my main features, but there are limits. Come on Alberto, please be more respectfull with your clients.

To im2badd,

I swithched to Reinold Lariza's FTP plugin. You can download it at:

http://rlplugins.software-zone.com/rlftp4w/rlftp4w14.zip

I have been using it without problems, you´ll be surprised (as me) that this nice plugin is free!.

Thanks a lot Reinold!!!

Beno, I DID NOT HAVE READ THIS TOPIC UNTIL I SAW IT TODAY. WHY DID YOU NOT SEND ME AN EM-MAIL? It is just to send me an e-mail. Just it. You can post here too, but, here, is not my official communication channel.

My plugin works very well with a lot of people. I never have a complaint about it and it have a lot of features founded. Sorry for not release too many freewares: I don´t have any other job. I am a programmer.

I have some tmFTP users. They never ask about it.

Hi,

is not my official communication channel

I have posted in your own forum with no luck. BTW, Can you post here which is your "official channel"? (I have other ideas and requests to send you).

But Ok, I´ll try to redo the idea that came into my mind after reading your answer to this 1 year 2 months request: Next time you see one request like this (14 months later) it would be better to pretend you have not read it. Replying to it does not look serious.

--- Added later:

Sorry for not release too many freewares: I don´t have any other job. I am a programmer.

Check your records: I have bought lots of your plugins, in fact I have payed for some that today does not exist (tmDraw, Image, Sound and dxCap).

I´m also a registered tmFTP user and can not use it in my projects due to the problem described since 14 months ago. This made me switch to another option.

How can this be?, I payed for a ftp plugin that does not work for me, and I´m using a free one that does the job...

You can choose another plugin of the same price, no problem.

My e-mail is:

tmedia@techmedia-software.com.br
I´m always on line.

You can use the forums on my site:
www.techmediasoftware.com

Sometimes I´m off for some trip, so the email is a better channel to contact me.

I just have setup this Forum (Neosoftware) to notify me on my posts, but when someone else posts, i did not receive a notify, so some posts can pass without I´m reading, like your FTP question.

All the best
