My 2 cents...

Yeah, XML, should be XML.

Dave, in the new plugin, if possible, could the tables be configured to alternate the color of ever other row to make reading easier?

For example:

Row 1 - white
Row 2 - very light gray
Row 3 - white
etc.

I would assume this would be part of the "improved" grid. But I'm not the one coding it. :)

This is a definitely a good idea.

SmartMedia: Please keep in mind that every time you make a post like this, Dave will have to take the time to answer you, because that is the kind of guy he is. This takes his time away from actually developing the plugin. :(

We are all eager for the plugin to be finished. Dave has answered enough questions in this post that we have a pretty good idea as to what will be included. Now, let's all be patient, and let him do what he does best. :)

Hi friends and great david,

Will be nice that the plugin can insert records bettwen records inside the Grid. Not only at the end.

Ex: Record 1
Record 2
New Record inserted
Record 3
Record 4

And will be nice too allow Drag and Drop with records inside the grid in order to change the position inside the DB. Is this possible to make?

Will the new plugin accept the implementing of ENTITY-RELATIONS concepts???

Thanks all.

And I really would like to know if it can bring peace in the Middle East and solve global warming.

BTW I googled Entity-Relations and still didn't understand the term. Could you explain what you understand it to be? Feel free to put it in a new thread so we don't redirect the DB discussion.

I think this will be possible. The new plug-in will support a variety of database formats. I'm not sure if all of them support inserting records.

I think most (maybe all?) databases do not allow records to be moved like that. Usually, records are ordered using a sort or a query.

I also don't know what you mean by ENTITY-RELATIONS. Can you explain?

I believe the question of Entity-Relations has to do with supporting Relational databases (i.e., ability to create normalized database tables that link to one another through a common key field.) My response would be that that is the job of the underlying database engine, and not of the DB plug-in. However, I can understand the need to define "views" for the data (i.e., extracting filtered subsets of records) for display in NeoBook. We can also call this Page-Loaded as opposed to File-Loaded processing -- saves memory if you don't need to keep everything there at the same time.

Just my thoughts,
Glen
