>what char do i use for line feed

What do you mean? When you use the config data from a Textentry, you have no problem with LF. When you mean the problem with the '|' char, you can use hpwFileRead from hpwUtility to read a file without | problems.

>how to i get rid of the black square boxes

I have seen this also sometimes. It comes from the used free component I used for the colormemo from balticsolutions. I am not sure what the reason is, but it might be a non-displayable character. I have no problem in the pub-viewer in the moment.

It seems that hpwColorMemoLoadCfg cause a problem on a WIN2K PC. I have to further investigate.

hpwColorMemoCreate works with no problems.

well what i am saying is it would be nice if you could use the ascii variables at least the very basic none alphanumaric ones .................

Carriage Return[#13]
Line Feed[#10]
Tab[#9]

mainly cause say if you take and need to modify the data at any time with like using StrReplace

here is an example i know it is probably bad coding.

StrReplace "[My_actions]" "AutoStart=" "Auto Start = " "[My_actions]"
StrReplace "[My_actions]" "AutoStop=" "[#13]Auto Stop = " "[My_actions]"
StrReplace "[My_actions]" "Interval=" "[#13]Interval = " "[My_actions]"

basically in the example ...... one text is replaced by another then the [#13] char put a blank line between the previous and current actions
and the reason the [#13] is where it is at because on the right side of the = is the value of the stated property which is not always the same

You must be more specific. Where do you want to use them? On loading CFG? On loading source into memo?

I have not get the point.
