Error: Cannot open the ms jet engine information file!!!

Postby Enigman » Wed Apr 09, 2014 7:07 am

The actual full text of the error I am getting is: "Cannot open the microsoft jet engine workgroup information file".

This is followed by "Invalid Database ID; db", where "db" is the database handle I have assigned in my application.

HHHHEEEELLLPPPPP!!! I am so boned if I cannot get this fixed. I have created an inventory control and tracking system using NB DBPro and now without it I cannot do business, keep records, ship product, etc.

The information online had no concrete fix for this. Lots of suggestions, but no one says "oh that fixed it".

Any help?

This appears to be a bug in the latest update to Kaspersky Anti-Virus:

Disabling Kaspersky solves the problem. Hopefully, they will fix this problem soon as many people seem to be affected.

Thanks Dave,

Yes, I talked to Kaspersky after posting. They are getting hammered over this and they have posted a workaround involving a file replacement. They say that a permanent fix will be issued later. I didn't even check their forum, I got right on the phone and grabbed short hairs and yanked.

I lost 4-1/2 hours debugging this. That's better than not finding the problem I guess.

Thanks again.
