NeoBookDBPro 1.2 Update Released

Postby Neosoft Support » Tue Jan 27, 2009 1:13 pm

NeoSoft Corp. has released NeoBookDBPro version 1.2. This update can be downloaded from:

This update contains the following:

-Updated user interface to match the one used by NeoBook v5.6.

-Added GetDefaultValues property to the dbsSetGridProperties action. Normally, a database server will not apply default field values (defined with dbpCreateTable) until a record is posted. When using a grid to insert new records, this behavior causes fields to appear empty instead of displaying their default values. Only when the record is posted will the default values display. Setting GetDefaultValues to "Yes" tells NeoBookDBPro to retrieve default values from the server and apply them to each field at the time the record is inserted. Setting GetDefaultValues to "No" tells NeoBookDBPro to let the database server handle default field values normally.

-Added a DefaultValue property to the dbpSetFieldProperties action which can be used to programmatically define a default value to be assigned to the field when a new record is created. This value takes precedence over any default values for the field implemented on the database server (defined with dbpCreateTable).

-Added EditOnly property to the dbpSetGridProperties action. When EditOnly = Yes, existing records in the table can be edited, but no new records can be added from the grid. EditOnly = No, allow new records to be added from the grid.

-The value returned by the dbpSum action is now formatted using the calculated field's display format as specified in dbpSetFieldProperties.
Fields set to read-only in dbpSetFieldProperties can now be modified programmatically (using SetVar, etc.).

-The ReportDesigner’s Edit > Paste command can now be used to paste images and text from the clipboard into a report.

-And several other minor enhancements.

-Modified the grid’s popup calendar so that it defaults to the current date instead of 1899 when used with an empty (null) date field. (In order for the calendar popup to appear in the grid the date field must be formatted using dbpSetFieldProperties > DisplayFormat.)

-Temporary tables can now be used in reports.

-Made several modifications to reduce or eliminate instances of invalid bookmark errors.

-The dbpImportFromCSV action now works correctly with memo fields containing carriage returns.

-NeoBookDBPro-specific codes are no longer appended to the end of files exported from picture/blob fields. These codes used by NeoBookDBPro to identify the type of data stored in picture/blob fields, but could confuse some third party applications.

-The dbpGetFieldDefs action now return field definitions that more closely match those used by dbpCreateTable. (Due to inconsistencies in how field attributes are stored internally by different database engines, it’s not possible to reproduce the exact field definitions used to create a table.)

-Corrected a problem that could trigger an “invalid bookmark” error if a query is active and dbpStringReplace is executed on one of the fields used to perform the query.

-And several other minor fixes.
