Host for MySql

Postby cp4w » Fri Feb 01, 2008 10:27 am

Hi,

Does anyone know of a quality reasonable host for mysql database that I would be able to access via a Neobook running on a PC.

The site I know it about only allows access to MySql via the Web Site that it is hosting.

Thanks

Hi Shx

If your hosting support CPanel or similar, try this:

In my server is installed the cPanel version 11.4.18-RELEASE-14158
In site management tools there is an option called MySQL databases over there you can create-edit-delete databases and also create-delete-grant rights to users, also there is an option Access Hosts.
Access Hosts grants the access of every ip is on the list, Host (% wildcard is allowed).
For example if you want to grant access for everybody you just enter %.%.%.%
Now i can connect easy from dbp with the following example...

dbpOpenDatabase "Test" "Provider=MSDASQL.1;Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};
Server=www.infogate.gr;Database=sm_test;User=sm_test;Password=test;Option=3"

I tested this at my webserver, and works fine...

My devaluated Cent,
