GRID'S DISPLAY FORMAT ERROR

Postby spiros » Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:00 am

HEY. The use of € symbol in the grid's display format, prevents the math command of returning a correct number. In fact, any number. Returns error in the result variable.
That occurs in the hpwCalcExpress plug-in also.
Is something wrong with my pub or is it a plug-in error?

Neither the math command nor hpwCalcExpress are designed to work with currencys.
The math command throws a normal error and hpwCalcExpress an exceptions.
Maybe it must be improved to also throw an error instead of an exception.
When time permits it may get done.

So parse (streplace with nothing) out any currency and you will get a result.

Since it was only adding 2 lines of code here is a version which is tolerant with $ and €:

DBPro's built-in math actions (dbpSum, etc.) work correctly with formatted numeric fields. NeoBook's Math action doesn't understand non-numeric characters, so you will have to either turn off the field formatting during the calculation, or manually remove any non numeric characters manually using the StrReplace action. Or use hpwCalcExpress.
