From the help action command Reference:

FileOpenBox "title" "file mask" "initial path" "variable" "options"

or

FolderBox "title" "variable"

For more advanced file-operation is the plugin NeoBookFM/FTP from neosoftware.

This will work too if you want to use Windows Explorer to display the folder:

Run "Explorer.exe" "C:\Test" "Normal" "" ""

Replace "C:\Test" with the name of the folder you want to browse.

I want the user to navigate with FolderBox to his specific folder. Then I would like to open all the files in this folder into a string variable (like I would do with FileOpenBox) - but I want to do it in the background / invisible for the user.

Is this possible without using the ftp plugin?

OOOPS! Got it .... there is FileList :)))
