Is this a bug or just something most of you know better?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a buggy programmer. Maybe most people would call it a syntax error, but...

If I do this:

.this menu
setvar "[mnuQuickTour]" "Checked"

setvar "[mnuYahooGroup]" ""
setvar "[mnuGESite]" ""
setvar "[mnuLinks]" ""
setvar "[mnuHelpFile]" ""
setvar "[mnuAbout]" ""

The above code works just fine, but if I put a space in [mnuLinks] like this:
Code: Select all
setvar "[mnuYahooGroup]" ""
setvar "[mnuGESite]" ""
setvar " [mnuLinks]" ""
setvar "[mnuHelpFile]" ""
setvar "[mnuAbout]" ""

The checkbox doesn't respond to reseting it to "" in other menu actions.

When you put a space before a variable, NB looks for a space and then the data in the variable. I haven't tried this, but putting a space before the variable in the checkbox should work.

Why do you need that space there?

Hi Wrangler,

I didn't need the space, but I accidentally put it in. I coded all of the checks to show on my menus when they were selected. Then the code was supposed to uncheck the menus not in use.

Drove myself crazier than usual trying to figure out why the "Links" check would not go away on my "Links" menu until I found the reason was that naughty extra space.

Then I wondered if that would be considered a bug or simply something that is a syntax issue and a newbie ignorance problem.

Hope all is well with everyone today. I'm enjoying the workout with neobook and neobookdbpro. Great programs both of them. NO. I do not work for nor am I associated with Neobook company. Ha, ha. Bet no one could tell that. ;-)

Just love having fun and learning.
