Am I missing something? Rename a folder

Postby TMcD » Wed Mar 28, 2007 4:42 pm

I have a piece of software that will run another piece of software when it completes its process.

What I need to do is to rename a folder, but there is no option..

(Using a NeoBook tool...) The only way I can see it being done is to create the new folder and copy every file (one by one) to the new folder.

Any other suggestions?

I thought, maybe some dos thingy, but honestly, I don't know the power or use of DOS. :)

Thanks,
Troy

Hi Troy,

The only idea I have is to use Ronnie´s excellent rtFMS plugin.

There you will find:

rtFolderRename

Which does what you are looking for.

This Ronnie´s plugin is a must for a serious NeoBooker :)

a) Whatever mechanism you deploy, be careful that your currently running programs do not have any open files in the folder to be renamed.

b) The DOS command is ...
Code: Select all
ren "currentFullFolderName" "newFolderName"
... e.g. ...
Code: Select all
ren "c:\NeoBook\abcd" "xyz"
... were upon you would end up with c:\NeoBook\xyz

c) Haven't tried it myself but you might try ...
Code: Select all
SetVar "[currentFolder]" "!whatever"
SetVar "[newFolder]" "!whatever_else" ... just the folder name ; NOT the full path !!!
Run "ren" "[#34][currentFolder][#34] [#34][newFolder][#34]" "Wait" "" ""

Hi TMcD

Another chance is to use the David Esperalta Plugin - dec_Plus.

It has different functions to manipulate files & folders
