open a selected file

Postby henni » Fri Dec 29, 2006 12:42 am

I want to open a special file (PDF) from the file open box - command. I store the name of the selected file in a variable, but I don't know how to open it with the same routine as usually outside neobook.

Henni:

a) NeoSoft has a (free) plugin called NeoBookPDF which will enable you to open a pdf type document inside a specified Rectangle object within your application (pub) ... with it, you can also navigate to different pages, control the zoom level and print the contents ... all via script commands.

Side benefit ... even loads pdf documents from the web.

b) Haven't tried it myself, but you should also be able to load the pdf in a separate window with the Run command ... as long as user's computer is set up so double clicking on a .pdf file in Windows Explorer starts the Acrobat Reader program, you can specify the .pdf file as the parameter for the Run command also ... and everything will be taken care of.
