Are Anti-Virus False Positives Still an Issue?

I know awhile back that anti-virus false positives were an issue. I think Avast was a bad culprit. Anyone have recent experiences?

I haven't heard about one recently, but it certainly could still happen on occasion. Anti-virus apps haven't eliminated false-positives and have no real incentive to do so. Users don't know the difference between a real threat and a false one. They think the AV is protecting them from something and I assume that AV vendors are happy to allow that perception to continue.
