Hello there!

Is there any way of making the background of the application transparent but not the buttons and other ui controls?

Hello,

You may try Book Properties\Window\Window Style\Custom shaped window

With Define Shape you choose a bitmap where you can draw your window background with 2 colors.
Then you chosse which color will be transparent.
The you place your UI-elements on the non-transparent areas.

What do you want to do and what is not possible.
Your quote is quite unspecifc.
Isn't custom GUI the strength of NB? (I think so)

HPW:

I think he wants a "swiss cheese" type of Application Window.

If it was a one-page Application, it could be accomplished by having the "non-transparent color" in the "Background Image" match the exact locations of each of the UI elements.

For a multi-page Application, I do not see a method of specifying a different "Background Image" per page.

I agree ... and there are many other strengths.

Thanks for the replies, yeah, no I would need to rephrase my statement, I was thinking of custom controls for the applications and more support for custom 'skins', like... i dont know, Windows Ribbon, dark dropdowns... etc...
