it runs fast while NeoBook is running

Postby Rodrigo » Tue Sep 09, 2014 5:22 pm

Something strange. I do not know if anyone else happens.

Test 1:
I close Neobook.
Then I run a compiled file directly from Windows Explorer. (double click on the exe)
Result: The program runs as usual, but with some delay (normal for me until today).

Test 2:
Neobook run.
Then I run a compiled file directly from Windows Explorer. (double click on the exe)
Result: The program runs much faster.

Importantly, in test 2, I'm not running the file from Neobook.

Anyone else does this happen?
Why while Neobook it's running, improve both the performance of my application ?.

I really wish that my programs were running so fast all the time.

Rodrigo:

Can you define ...

- runs as usual, but with some delay
- runs much faster

... specifically, are you refering to the "initial load/start time" ? (i.e. elapsed time from "double click" to "display of first page") ... or does every response (to a click of button or entry of text) take longer ?

Until today, I thought that the speed of NeoBook applications was best considering hardware and OS installed on my PC.

While NeoBook is running, the NeoBook applications respond better to keyboard and mouse events, transition pages, page effects, object, etc.
The whole program improves its performance.

Remember that I'm not using run from NeoBook.

maybe use the NeoBook interpreter instead of compiled interpreter?

Maybe it's silly, but I would like to know the cause.

A compiled exe is a completely independant program and should not be influenced by NeoBook at all. If your anti-virus has a real time scanner, it will scan a new exe the first time you run it, but not after that. This can dramatically slow down running pubs in test mode from NeoBook since a new exe is created each time you test run a pub.
