Flash Player Component & WebBrowser Object

Postby David de Argentina » Wed Aug 07, 2013 12:09 am

Hi all,

I need show a webpage into a WebBrowser object.
I detect very strange behavior depending Windows Version.
In both cases, there are installed the Flash Player Component version 11,8,800,94 (the latest version)

URL to test:

http://vk.com/video_ext.php?oid=1641517 ... fba12&hd=1

On XP SP3:
Running into WebBrowser Object: Works fine.
Running into Internet Explorer (IE8): Does not work. After some javascript errors, does not recognize the Flash Version. Banner appairs telling need to upgrade Flash Version.

On Windows 7 Ultimate:
Running into WebBrowser Object: Does not work. Not errors but does not recognize the Flash Version. Banner appairs telling need to upgrade Flash Version.
Running into Internet Explorer (IE10): Works fine.

I had changed the WebBrowser Settings between IE7 Compatibility Mode Checked/UnChecked, the result is the same on Win7, does not work.

Any ideas in order to normalize this behavior ?

Thanks in advance,
David de Argentina

Flash is only as good as the person who writes the script. In my experience when a website crashes, it's frequently caused by some poorly written Flash advert. I don't know how many times I've seen that "Shockwave plug-in has crashed..." error message. It happens in both IE and Chrome.

Hello,

I use the Delphi Chromium component in one of my projects (Small Editor) and work more or less well. However, I use the component only to show certain HTML and not to act like a webbrowser. When sometime ago I try to make a NeoBook plugin (I have published more than 50 plugins, but begin various ones that never can be published) with the same component I do not get the desired results. You know sometimes, due to a NeoBook plugin nature, some components or some code do not work in the same way that in an standalone project. This is the case of the Delphi Chromium component, at the least with my knowledge.

And this is what I can say about. :(

Could you publish or send me the .NBP file in order to test if it is enough good for my purposes ?

Thanks a bunch !

Hello,

I can't David. Sometimes the plugin advance in some manner before to "abandond" their development, but this is not the case. In other words I need very little time to discover that I cannot use the Chromium component attached to a NeoBook rectangle.

However I don't know why you need the use of a Chromium browser: probably the problems appear in a similar way than in the native (Internet Explorer) WebBrowser object.

For example, if the problem in this case is that the video server do not allow some referers or something else, you continue with the problems using whatever browser. Or maybe I'am wrong.

Sorry if I cannot help here.

No Problem dec,
Thanks a lot.

I tested the CEFClient.exe provided with the Chromium instalation package, with the url of the video server and works like a charm in XP and Seven Ultimate.

Well, the another way is nothing ellegant: embeed the Chromium Python example into a NeoBook rectangle, passing the url as commandline parameter...

Turning off the IE7 Compatibility Mode option should allow NeoBook's browser to emulate the current version of IE, but I wonder if NeoBook is dealing with IE10 properly. NeoBook should create the proper registry entry for IE10, but maybe it's not working correctly. You could try setting the registry manually before running your pub. Microsoft's documentation on this subject below:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee330730(v=vs.85).aspx#browser_emulation

If you set the registry manually, IE7 Compatibility Mode in NeoBook should be turned OFF.

Also, try checking the registry when IE7 Compatibility Mode is turned on.

Thanks Dave, but not luky... does not work...

Bad idea to create a generic program, because i don't have idea what version of Window final user has.

I'm very close to put in work a python example that uses the Chromium engine.

This is not the best option, but Chromium is non-version-dependant as Internet Explorer component.

I tested a phyton full webbrowser sample and works like a charm over XP and Win7

When program will be done, i will upload a sample for testing purposes.

Thanks again,

Hi all,

Here is a sample to test the Chromium component.

The download link is: (near 31MB)

https://app.box.com/s/ldfdtjtzkg2vy3r7ou1z

After unzipped on any folder, you must run the CEF.exe program (with the NeoBook icon)

I tested it on XP SP3 and Win7 Ultimate.

Please, tell me if program runs good for you ( and what windows version, please)
